Our client is a fast growing real estate developer and investor based in Hoogstraten. They have 25 years of experience and cover activities in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Due to continuous growth they are currently looking for a Finance Director BeLux.

Scope of the position

The position of Finance Director is a new role within the company. He/she will become responsible for all financial aspects of the group, which includes

  • Leading the finance teams to develop, implement and maintain reliable financial/accounting controls, reports and processes in order to impact the business performance positively and support the decision making;
  • Guaranteeing the financial integrity of the company and complying with all regulations, through proper management, control, support and financial reporting.


Areas of responsibility


  • Team management: Build, develop and manage a team (recruitment, training, role definition, objective setting,…) to execute the tasks and achieve the team objectives.
  • Work organization: Identify the most adequate and efficient organization and implement the corresponding work set-up in terms of processes, best practices, tools, etc..
  • Risk management: Seek out methods and practices to manage and minimize financial risk (major operational risks, control plan and when relevant internal or external finance related recommendations closure).
  • Strategy: Provide internal assistance to the General Management and all other departments
    • Act as a sparring partner and as a consultant to the business by challenging existing practices.
    • Support decision making by delivering trustworthy information and insightful advice.
    • Play an active role in defining and contributing to the company’s strategy.

Accounting & Control

  • Ensure accurate accounting and business reporting, which results in a fair representation of the activity.
  • Fulfil financial controlling: Provide reliable financial information and activity reporting to the General Management, within agreed timescales and according to required internal standards and legal requirements.
  • Ensure an efficient receivables collection process and manage litigations.
  • Follow up the financial planning and budgeting processes:
    • Coordinate preparation of the yearly budget and quarterly forecasts.
    • Ensure budgets and forecasts are reliable, accurate and well presented.
    • Ensure the follow-up of the actual revenues versus budget and perform variance analyses.
    • Check and control spending on general expenses.
    • Identify process improvements and potential reduction of costs to maximize the value and cost effectiveness of the company.

Your profile

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
  • Required experience : 10-15 years in a similar function with financial and people management
  • A good understanding of internal and external processes is an added value.
  • Ability to come up with initiatives and ideas to improve processes and develop people.
  • Knowledge of the real estate business is a plus, not a must.
  • Strong ability to plan and to manage different projects.
  • Goal-driven leader with empowering leadership skills who maintains a productive climate and motivates the team.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, critical thinking and financial management skills;
  • Decision making skills and ability to make things happen;
  • Capacities to drive “change management” within the teams;
  • Excellent communication skills. Also have the ability to communicate complex financial information to both finance professionals and to non-specialists;
  • Be familiar with database technologies and software for financial analysis and reporting;
  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
  • Willingness to travel to Luxemburg on a regular bases.
