For our client, a renowned international company based in the Zaventem / Diegem region, we are currently looking for a Senior Financial Controller.
Role
The financial controller plays a key role in the new finance organization and will be involved in the transformational activities to ensure and create a highly effective finance team.
- He/she will be a driving force for the implementation of a fast documented monthly process supported by business information and data.
- He/she ensures good data quality by monitoring internal controls.
- He/she monitors and coordinates the corporate financial & non-financial reporting to HQ.
- He/she gets involved in corporate taxation, VAT and other legislation.
- He/she is in contact with the business units and acts proactively on outstanding issues and questions of the business units.
The financial controller reports directly to the Accounting, reporting & treasury manager.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the monthly closing of the balance sheet and P&L considering a strict deadline:
- Calculate and process accruals based on information received from other business units or reporting sources and in accordance with Belgian GAAP, IFRS and business policies.
- Look at the outcome in a critical way, taking (monthly) evolutions into account.
- Check all the accounts for which he/she is responsible
- Look constantly at optimizing the closing process.
- Remains in direct contact with the different business units for whom the financial controller is in charge:
- Masters the underlying process that steers the income/cost.
- Manages issues or outstanding actions during the month in a proactive way.
- Makes changes in the accounting process in accordance with the company’s guidelines.
- Responsible for the balance sheet and P&L reconciliation:
- Correct validation of the assets and liabilities during a monthly balance sheet reconciliation.
- Follow up and take actions on outstanding aged debts and receivables.
- Reconciliation of the different systems that are linked to the accounting process.
- Involvement in several financial projects
Requirements for the role
- You hold a higher degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
- You have 5 to 10 years of experience in all-round accounting or financial controlling.
- You are seasoned and experienced in optimizing monthly closing processes.
- You have experience with change management.
- You can navigate in a landscape composed of multiple IT-systems.
- You have strong planning & organization skills.
- You are stress resistant and able to meet tight deadlines.
- You are fluent in English and French or Dutch.
