For our client, Alpha Trains, Europe’s leading locomotive and passenger train lessor, we are looking for a Fleet Planning Manager.
In this role, you’ll coordinate complex operations, manage supplier relationships, and ensure customers receive outstanding service. You’ll combine strong analytical skills with a passion for data, planning, and operational excellence in an international environment.
Your role
As Fleet Planning Manager, you are the key link between customers, maintenance suppliers, and internal teams. You ensure locomotive availability, coordinate maintenance activities, and monitor supplier performance against contractual agreements.
Working within the Operations Department, you’ll oversee the operational performance of an international fleet, manage stakeholder relationships, and continuously look for opportunities to improve fleet performance. No two days are the same, as you’ll balance long-term planning with ad hoc operational challenges.
Your responsibilities
- Monitor fleet availability, utilisation, and maintenance planning.
- Track mileage and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with suppliers across Europe.
- Manage supplier relationships and monitor service performance through KPIs.
- Organise operational meetings and coordinate actions during operational changes.
- Resolve operational issues and escalate where needed.
- Ensure accurate invoicing for supplier services and customer contracts.
- Maintain accurate fleet data in ERP and fleet management systems.
- Analyse operational data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Who are you?
You are an organised professional who enjoys taking ownership, working with data, and coordinating multiple stakeholders in an international environment.
You bring:
- Several years of experience in fleet management, logistics, operations, account management, customer service, or a similar coordinating role.
- Experience managing suppliers and/or customer relationships.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and administrative skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and solve problems proactively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English. German is a strong plus.
Nice to have
- Basic technical knowledge of locomotives, rolling stock, or railway operations.
- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Power Platform, ERP, or asset management systems.
