Scope & objectives

As a Key Account Finance Business Partner, you will primarily engage in business partnering with the Commercial team, particularly focusing on the strategic accounts. One of the most important objectives is fostering strong collaborative relationships with the clients and driving mutual success. Your role will involve understanding and addressing customer needs to enhance service delivery and strengthening the partnerships, while demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence.

Additionally, you will leverage your strong analytical skills to analyse margins per country and service, scrutinize costs charged by Business Units, and ensure accurate invoicing in alignment with contractual agreements. Effective communication, both internally and externally, will be key, as you will regularly provide updates on progress, articulate challenges, propose solutions, and simplify complex concepts for easy understanding. 

Operationally, you will perform financial analyses and controls and you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end finance process for a portfolio of strategic clients, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to customer orders, invoicing, collection, and cash application. You will work closely with various internal departments, including sales, customer service, and accounts receivable, to ensure seamless order processing and cash flow management. You support the client’s controllers in their analyses, provide the necessary financial reports to yield insights into processes and associated cost structures, as well as answer all kinds of ad-hoc questions from the client.  

The Key Account Finance Business Partner plays a strategic role in helping commercial teams to achieve their goals by providing financial insights and understanding the impact of decisions on the bottom line.

  • Business partnering with the Commercial department in different countries and with the strategic accounts, to foster collaboration and drive mutual success.
  • Develop a customer-centric approach to understand and enhance service delivery to strengthen the existing relationships.
  • Communicate effectively on progress, challenges, and proposed solutions in comprehensible terms.
  • Utilize strong analytical skills to analyse margins, scrutinize costs, and ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Manage the order to cash process, including order entry, credit checks, invoicing and collection.
  • Check sales orders and contracts for correctness and completeness and resolving any deviations or problems.
  • Test and validate processes set up by the BI team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of customer invoices and payments in the financial system.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure that questions about pricing, terms, and discounts are clear.
  • Perform credit evaluations and monitor credit limits in collaboration with the credit and collection team to minimize the risk of bad debts and maintain healthy customer relationships.
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments, resolve payment disputes, and implement collection strategies in collaboration with the credit and collection team.
  • Reconcile accounts to ensure accurate reporting of accounts receivable balances.
  • Analyse customer accounts and aging reports to identify overdue accounts and implement appropriate actions in collaboration with the credit & collection team.
  • Prepare periodic reports on the most important metrics from order to cash, such as days of sales outstanding (DSO).
  • Staying up-to-date on relevant accounting regulations, industry best practices, and technological developments to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.

Profile
 

  • You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance or economics.
  • You have 5 to 10 years of experience as consultant, business controller, business analyst or financial analyst.
  • You have a strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • You are proficient in using financial systems and software (e.g., ERP systems, Excel) to manage and analyse data.
  • You have a data-driven mindset.
  • You have an eye for detail and are accurate in data entry and financial calculations.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which gives you the ability to identify and solve problems independently.
  • You have effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have good organizational and time management skills and are able to deal with different priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and automation tools is a plus.
  • You have a strong affinity with tools and technology.
  • You are a team player and have strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
