For our client, a renowned international company that designs, manufactures, and sells compact construction machines and equipment, we are currently looking for a Senior Commercial Controller EMEA.

Role

The Commercial Controller will support the sales team in ensuring a good understanding of the turnover and profitability generated by the sales activities and providing visibility to KPIs such as volume, gross margin, price realisation and discounts structures. As part of the planning activities, he/she will be responsible for the finance-controlling activity down to commercial margin. The Commercial Controller will report directly to the EMEA Finance Director and in ‘dotted reporting line’ to the Sales Director.

Key responsibilities
 

  • Financial Planning:
    • Take ownership on the revenue/gross margin.
    • Take ownership for the financial planning for the EMEA region, being part of the Annual Planning cycle.
    • Work closely with the site controllers, based in France & Germany, to give needed analysis as part of the overall P&L.

 

  • Reporting & performance monitoring:
    • Track performance vs. target, monthly variance analyses to budget/Forecast for key metrics such as revenue, gross margin, price realization, discount spent (dealer and retail), etc.
    • Perform in depth analyses per model and country. Keep a close eye on the dealer/rental mix.
    • Perform volume / mix / price calculations.
    • Prepare templates for and attend to the Monthly Commercial Review meetings.

 

  • Support Sales Director & RDs:
    • Bring visibility on the overall profitability on large (Key Account) deals.
    • Add value to the decision-making process with analytical insights.
    • Analyze the impact of promotional campaigns by measuring data before and after the implementation.
    • Communicate and share on a regular basis the latest actual margin evolution as well as other key metrics.

 

  • Dealer credit control:
    • Monitor and analyze dealer credit lines, overdue and credit issues.
    • Remain in regularly contact with the financial partners to manage floor plan program and risks associated to dealer credit lines and overall financial capabilities.

 

  • Network Development:
    • Being part of commercial meetings where decisions are made about new dealer appointments, dealer cancellations etc.

Profile
 

  • You hold a master’s degree in economics or business management.
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in business controlling, commercial controlling or financial business partnering.
  • You have a good commercial acumen and have a good understanding and intertest in the commercial side of the business.
  • You are able to multi-task and deliver on deadlines.
  • You have the ability to work and cooperate with different commercial and finance teams and to influence decision making.
  • You have the ability to follow and understand big-picture economic trends.
  • You are very proficient with Excel. Experience with PowerBI is an asset.
  • You can translate numbers and data into business insight.
  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of French and/or German are assets.
  • You live in the Brussels area.
